CASEY NEISTAT

From the ages of 14-19 years old, I studied the media. Digital, analogue, advertising, the web, print & film, you name it I did some kind of essay on it. I went from GCSE's to college and then going onto study Digital Media at University of Greenwich. I loved how different people could be within the media, there are no boundaries, especialliy in film. Film is something I never enjoyed (apart from watching). I never got it, understood it or generally didn't get why people would spend hours filming and editing, just for a 5 minute trailer. Until now...

This is Casey Neistat and he is a film maker based in New York. I discovered his YouTube channel around 2 months ago, and ended up watching near enough all of his videos within a week. His style of film making is something so different and original, that I wish I had been introduced to his work while at university. I may have ended up going down a different path, because this guy has inspired me.

His self taught, DIY skill are amazing. Time-lapse, amazing scenery and living in New York City give his videos the most incredible feel and energy. Most of all, Casey knows how to tell a story. There's not one video I've watched and not understood what he wanted to get across. From his Soda Ban video to his daily vlog, there's always a meaning behind each video.
